56-Day Challenge

Give Blood. Win Up To $15,000.
Resolve to save lives by routinely giving blood in 2023 and you could win up to $15,000 in prize money!
Presented by the Adam Swenka Team at Flat Branch Home Loans and The Giving Branch, the 56-Day Challenge is returning for another year — and this time it’s bigger than ever!
Everyone who gives blood, plasma or platelets in January 2023 will receive an all-new hoodie, while supplies last.
Plus, all January donors who sign up for the 56-Day Challenge and then make subsequent donations throughout the year can win VISA gift cards — with the largest rewards for those who give all year long!
Why a 56-Day Challenge?

All eligible donors can give whole blood once every 56 days, up to six times a year!

Yet most people give blood just once a year. Of all the people who donate blood to the CBCO, only 39 percent give again during the same year.

If those one-time donors gave just one more time, local hospitals would have over 17,700 additional units of blood available to help patients!
Each blood donation has the power to help up to three people right here in the Ozarks. If everyone completed the 56-Day Challenge, think of how many people could benefit!
How does it work?

Donate blood, plasma or platelets at any Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive or donor center in January. All January blood donors will receive an exclusive hoodie, while supplies last.

Commit to take the 56-Day Challenge by CLICKING HERE and filling out the registration form. Forms must be completed by February 28, 2023.

Make a second donation at any Community Blood Center of the Ozarks blood drive or donor center by April 6, 2023.
One lucky donor who completes all three challenge steps will receive a $1,000 VISA gift card, courtesy of the Adam Swenka Team at Flat Branch Home Loans and The Giving Branch!
But why stop there?
You can give blood up to six times a year! The Adam Swenka Team at Flat Branch Home Loans and The Giving Branch want to reward the generous blood donors who go the extra mile to help local hospital patients all year long.
That’s why they’re awarding $14,000 in additional prize money to donors who take the 56-Day Challenge and give three, four, five or six times by certain milestone days in 2023. Refer to the schedule below to find out how you could win big!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Anyone who donates blood at any CBCO blood drive during the month of January will receive an exclusive hoodie, while supplies last. You will receive the hoodie on the date of your donation, regardless of whether you book another appointment. However, you will not be eligible to win a gift card unless you complete the subsequent steps listed.
You must fill out the registration form at www.cbco.org/56-entry to be eligible to win a gift card. Donors who do not complete this registration form will not receive an entry.
The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is constantly adding new mobile blood drives to our calendar. For a full list of upcoming blood drives, click here and enter your ZIP code. If you do not see a blood drive in your area, we encourage you to visit one of our four donation centers to complete the 56-Day Challenge.
No. As long as you have filled out the registration form, you can make your subsequent donation(s) at a mobile blood drive or another center if one would be more convenient. The opposite is also true. Those who donate at a mobile blood drive in January can make their subsequent donation(s) at a CBCO center or another mobile drive.
Yes. As long as you meet all three requirements (make your first donation in the month of January, complete the registration form by February 28 and make a second donation by April 6) you’ll earn your entry into the $1,000 drawing.

Double red cell donations allow qualifying donors to give enough red blood cells for two transfusions in a single visit to our Springfield donor center. Because donors give twice as many red cells during this procedure, the deferral period between donations is twice as long – 112 days. Accordingly, a double red cell donation will count as TWO donations/steps toward completing the 56-Day Challenge.
Example 1: A donor makes a double red cell donation in January AND fills out the registration form by February 28. This donor would NOT have to make another donation by April 6 to be entered to win the $1,000 gift card. Their successful double red cell donation would count as their first two donations.
Example 2: A donor donates whole blood on January 2 AND fills out the registration form by February 28, then makes a double red donation on March 20. With the successful double-red donation on March 20, the donor is entered into the drawing for the $1,000 gift card AND the $2,000 gift card.
Example 3: A donor donates whole blood on January 2, fills out the registration form by February 28 AND donates whole blood again on March 20. The donor is now entered into the drawing for the $1,000 gift card. Then, the donor makes a double-red donation on May 17. With the successful double-red donation on May 17, the donor is entered into the drawing for the $2,000 gift card AND the $3,000 gift card.
Whole blood and apheresis donors who miss any of the established 56-Day Challenge deadlines will not be entered into any of the promotion’s subsequent gift card drawings. However, we encourage donors to continue to donate blood, plasma and platelets at their convenience to support local hospital patients.
