“Our mission is to provide a quality blood supply, in a timely manner, at the lowest reasonable fee, while remaining accountable to the local community, blood donors and health care providers.”
In 1995, area business and civic leaders became convinced that a local blood provider could supply the region’s needs, keeping quality high and costs low. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks was formed, dramatically changing the way that blood was collected and distributed to area hospital patients.
CBCO donors provide all of the blood and blood products to patients at 38 hospitals in Southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas and southeast Kansas. When there is an excess of blood locally, CBCO supports other parts of the country that may be short on supplies. CBCO also supplies blood to the United States Military, as part of a national effort to sustain our troops.
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is led by a group of community leaders who serve on a Volunteer Board of Directors, who possess knowledge and experience of the needs for the area we serve.
CBCO employs state-of-the-art technology and strict quality control methods to ensure that area hospitals have the blood products they need to save lives. We are committed to fulfilling future needs, while remaining accountable to the local community.
As a not-for-profit organization, CBCO offers blood products for a fee determined solely by the cost of collection, testing, processing and distribution of those products to area hospitals. CBCO consistently provides these services at one of the lowest fees in the nation.
CBCO is a member of America’s Blood Centers, a network of independent blood centers that provides over half of the nation’s blood supply, and is fully accredited by AABB.
