19th annual Salute a Veteran blood drive
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks invites donors to honor the sacrifices of our U.S. Veterans by participating in the 19th annual Salute a Veteran Blood Drive. The drive is being held June 16 through July 6 at CBCO blood drives and donor centers throughout the region.
During Salute a Veteran, participants at any CBCO blood drive or donor center will have the opportunity to write a note of thanks to a veteran they know. Donors may bring in the address of a veteran or current U.S. Service member, write a message of dedication and thanks on a special card provided at the blood drive and CBCO will send it to the veteran they choose. If they do not have the veteran’s address with them, donors may take a card and fill it out at a later time.
The Salute a Veteran Blood Drive occurs at a time when summertime shortages usually occur. CBCO is currently on a CODE YELLOW ALERT for all negative blood types and type B positive, which means there is less than a two-day reserve supply for patients at 38 hospitals in the region.
All donors will receive a 50% bonus on their LifePoints rewards, helping them to achieve great gifts faster. Blood donors have the opportunity to redeem their LifePoints for a variety of gift cards and other items. Donors need to create an online account at www.cbco.org in order to start collecting LifePoints.
“We owe a great debt to our veterans,” CBCO Marketing Manager Chris Pilgrim said. “This drive is one of our original promotional events, and has been our way of saying thanks to veterans over the years. It continues to be a popular drive and always takes place during a time when donations often fall short of the need. I hope that our donors give for area patients, as well as for a veteran they know.”
